A note from Miss Kidd

Dear Parents

Welcome to term 5 and yet another really busy term. This is an extremely important time for the children in terms of being fully prepared for SATs, and it is great that we have four more full weeks of teaching time available before the children sit their SATs. Please continue to support your child at home with the run up to week beginning 13^th May and please ensure that they are completing their revision books.

In Year 6, the children will be learning about the Ancient Greeks. Our topic question is, ‘Which Greek god would you be?’ Much of our classroom work will be based on the Ancient Greeks where possible and we have some exciting things planned.

As a school, we have decided to change our reward system slightly. We recognise many children display good behaviour for the majority of their time in school, however they sometimes go un-noticed. Each child will start the week with 5 stars. The aim is to keep all 5 stars every week. Children will lose them if they break the school rules. If your child loses 3 or more stars, you will receive a phone call from Mr. Henstridge to discuss your child’s behaviour. At the end of a term, the children who have kept all of their stars will be awarded with a certificate for admirable attitudes and behaviours towards their learning and others. Please feel free to come and speak to me if you would like any more information or have any questions about this.

With only four weeks left until SATs, progress for each child is very high on our classroom agenda. Every child knows their current level and they are working hard to move forward and meet their end of year target. This work will continue after SATs as well.

Now the weather is getting warmer, please ensure your child has both indoor and outdoor PE kit in school every day.
